Reading a Health Window in Your Chart

Somebody who has been unwell for a long time, and who has been told by three different people that a bad period is coming, wants one thing from a chart: a date

This explains the pattern in general. See how your own chart reads energy and recovery your constitution and what quietly spends you, ten years of stretches banded against your own ladder rather than anyone else's, the same reading run backwards over years you have already lived so you can mark it right or wrong, and a short routine chosen from your placements. It names no illness and it is not medical advice.

Does any of this apply to you?

The page above is written for everyone. Your chart is not. Give us your birth date and place and we will show you which parts of it are true for you, and which are not. About 20 seconds, no account.

Reading a Health Window in Your Chart

Somebody who has been unwell for a long time, and who has been told by three different people that a bad period is coming, wants one thing from a chart: a date range with a beginning and an end that they can put next to their own calendar. The usual answer names a planet and a house and stops there. That describes a kind of period rather than a period, and it leaves the person asking exactly where they started.

This page produces the date range. The method has two layers, and they are independent of each other, which is what makes their agreement worth anything. The first layer is your own Vimshottari ladder, which is the Vedic period system that cuts a life into dated chapters and sub-chapters, narrowed down to the sub-periods run by the two planets that rule your 6th and 8th houses. The second is where Saturn and the two lunar nodes physically sit between now and 2033, checked against those same two houses in your chart. Where both layers land on the same months, the reading is firm. Where the ladder marks a period and the sky does not, or the sky does and the ladder does not, the reading is weaker, and this page says which of the two is missing instead of averaging them together.

What comes out is not a prediction about a body. It is a statement about how much a given run of months is likely to ask of you and what it is good for, which is a different claim. The next section is about why that difference matters more here than it would on any other page on this site.

Start here, because it changes how to read everything after it

Anything you have actually noticed belongs with a doctor who can examine you, and it belongs there now rather than after a trial period. If you are tired in a way that sleep is not fixing, book the appointment first and hold the sleep steady while you wait, in that order. Tiredness that does not answer to rest is something a person with training and instruments has to look at, and a period calendar is not the test for it. Nothing here is a reason to delay, change or stop anything a clinician has advised. Where a doctor and this page disagree, follow the doctor: they have examined you and this page has not.

If your mind is the part that is struggling right now, say it out loud to somebody. Tele-MANAS is free, confidential and open 24 hours on 14416, anywhere in India. If you are in immediate danger, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department now.

Three limits follow from that, and they belong before the first table rather than in a footnote after the last one.

No condition and no part of the body is named anywhere on this page. AstroMedha's health engine forbids that outright, and the reason is not squeamishness. A reader cannot unread a sentence that attributes something to a specific part of themselves, and the classical material that maps body parts onto signs does not carry enough weight to justify handing anybody that sentence. So the 6th house is read here as strain and the resistance built against it, and the 8th as pace and recovery, and neither is read as anything more specific than that.

This page also does not count anybody's years. People do ask, and the question is usually a frightened one rather than a technical one, so it deserves an answer rather than a silence. The bands here describe workload, and the honest way to use one is the way you would use a heavy quarter at work, by planning around the demand rather than by reading a verdict into it.

And a period carrying no mark is not good news, in the same way that a marked one is not bad news. Across the 20,000 charts measured further down, the median chart's longest unmarked gap in three years is 651 days. That is an ordinary shape for a calendar rather than a finding about a person. What an unmarked period is good for is groundwork: the tests, the appointments, the sleep, the things that are far easier to put in place before a busy season than during one.

What the 6th and the 8th are read as

Vedic charts read this subject from three houses rather than one, and each of the three answers a different question.

The 6th is the house of strain, obstacles and what pushes back, and equally of the resistance built against them. Those two are not opposites in this system. What wears you down and what toughens you are the same ground, which is why the 6th is read as what you overcome rather than as what defeats you. A period run by its ruler is a period that asks for effort and returns durability for it.

The 8th governs what is slow-moving and takes its own time to turn over. The things that recur, and the things that will not be hurried. It is read here as pace and recovery, so a strong 8th signature in a period says that forcing a timeline will cost you twice. It is a statement about how fast things move, not about what happens.

The 12th is loss, expenditure and withdrawal, and it is also the house of the bed. It governs sleep, which is why it ends up deciding energy more often than either of the other two. The timing work on this page uses the 6th and the 8th, and keeps the 12th in view for the reading, because a demanding period landing on somebody who is already short of sleep is a different thing from the same period landing on somebody who is not.

Those three together are what an astrologer means by the load axis of a chart. Their rulers are the planets this method times with, and the first practical question is which planets those are for you.

Which planets carry those houses in your chart

Whole-sign houses make the arithmetic exact. The 6th house is the sixth sign counted from your rising sign, the 8th is the eighth, and the planet ruling that sign is what your periods get filtered on. Every case is here, so you can find yours without a calculator.

Four entries are bolded, and they are the four charts where one planet rules both the rising sign and one of the two load houses. Venus rules the 1st and the 6th for Taurus rising. Mars rules the 1st and the 6th for Scorpio rising. Mars rules the 1st and the 8th for Aries rising, and Venus rules the 1st and the 8th for Libra rising.

That matters because the ruler of the rising sign is the planet standing for the body itself. In those four charts, one planet carries the body and one of its two demands at the same time, so its periods do not read cleanly in either direction, and treating them as purely demanding is over-reading them. One of the two charts worked further down is an Aries rising, so you can watch what that does in practice rather than take the claim on trust.

Nobody has the same planet ruling both the 6th and the 8th. The two houses sit two signs apart, and no planet rules two signs that are two apart, so the filter always carries exactly two planets. That is the whole input. Everything below is what happens to those two planets over time.

Why the ruler matters more than the house

A house does not move. The planet ruling it does, and Vimshottari is the system that says when.

Vimshottari cuts a life into nine chapters of fixed length that always run in the same order and add up to 120 years.

RulerChapter length
Ketu7 years
Venus20 years
Sun6 years
Moon10 years
Mars7 years
Rahu18 years
Jupiter16 years
Saturn19 years
Mercury17 years

That is the order too, read top to bottom and then wrapping round. Each chapter is a mahadasha. Which one you were born into, and how much of it had already been spent when you were born, is decided by where the Moon sat at that moment. Specifically it is decided by how far the Moon had travelled through its nakshatra, which is one of the 27 equal segments the zodiac is cut into for this purpose. Each nakshatra has one of the nine rulers attached to it, and the fraction of that segment the Moon still had left to cross is the fraction of that ruler's chapter you were born with still to run.

Plain words. Mahadasha means the major chapter, lasting six to twenty years. Dasha means the sequence of planetary chapters a life is divided into. Sade sati means the seven and a half years Saturn spends crossing your Moon. Dignity means the strength a planet takes from the sign it sits in.

Inside every chapter the same nine rulers run again in the same order and in the same proportions, which gives the antardasha, meaning the sub-period. Inside every sub-period they run once more, which gives the pratyantar, which is the third level down. A chapter is six to twenty years long, a sub-period is months to years, and a third-level period lands inside a season.

So the filter is simple to state. Take your two rulers, walk your own ladder, and mark every period that one of them runs. Depth is what makes the answer usable. Depth is also where the method quietly breaks, and the only way to see that happen is to count it.

What "marked" actually means, measured

The classical rule says the 6th and 8th rulers time this subject. It does not say how much of a life that leaves marked, and nobody writing the rule down had a way to count. We do, so this is counted rather than asserted.

Twenty thousand charts were generated and computed through the same engine that runs the product: births uniform between 1 January 1960 and 31 December 2005, clock time uniform across the 24 hours, birthplace uniform across ten Indian cities, seed 20260826. For each chart the rising sign fixes the two rulers, the Moon's longitude fixes the ladder, and the question asked of every chart is how much of the 1,096 days from 26 August 2026 to 26 August 2029 those two rulers mark.

At sub-period depth, meaning that the chapter or the sub-period is run by one of the two rulers, the median chart has 364 marked days, which is 33.2% of the three years. The median count of separate marked ranges is one. 26.3% of charts have nothing marked at all in the whole three years, and the median chart's longest unmarked gap is 651 days.

Go one level deeper and the picture inverts. At third-level depth the median chart has 527 marked days, 48.1% of the window, and no chart in 20,000 has nothing marked. The third level adds a median of 149 days on top of the sub-period reading, and it adds something in 72.4% of charts.

That is the trap, and it is worth being blunt about it. A filter that marks roughly half of a three-year calendar is not a filter. Going deeper feels like precision and produces the opposite, because at the third level one of your two rulers turns up every few weeks by construction: two of nine rulers, cycling. Depth on its own does not sharpen anything. Agreement between levels does.

So the rule this page uses is stricter. A period counts only when at least two of the three running levels are ruled by your 6th or 8th ruler. The chapter and the sub-period both, or the sub-period and the third level, or all three. Measured across the same 20,000 charts, that rule marks a median of 86 days out of 1,096, which is 7.8% of the three years, and it returns nothing at all for 30.4% of charts. Roughly one season in three years, and for three people in ten, no season at all.

Those two numbers are the reason this page cannot be answered generically. Eight per cent of a calendar, placed differently for every chart, is not something a summary can approximate. It is either your dates or it is nothing.

Saturn and the nodes, 2026 to 2033

The second layer is where the slow planets actually are. Saturn takes about two and a half years to cross a sign and the lunar nodes take about eighteen months, so these dates hold still long enough to plan against, unlike the Moon or Mercury.

Every ingress below was found by binary search over the ephemeris to the day, not taken from a table of approximate years. Positions are sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa, with mean nodes.

When Saturn and the nodes reach your 6th and 8th

Two kinds of contact count, and they are not the same strength. A planet occupies a house when it is physically in that sign. A planet aspects a house when it looks at it from elsewhere, and in this system that gaze is directional: every planet aspects the 7th sign from itself, Saturn additionally aspects the 3rd and the 10th, and the nodes additionally aspect the 5th and the 9th. Occupancy is the firmer of the two.

Here is every contact between 26 August 2026 and 26 August 2029, by rising sign. Ranges that continue past the window are cut off at 26 August 2029.

Bolded rows are occupancy by Saturn, the firmest single contact available here. Five of the twelve rising signs get one inside these three years and seven do not.

Two things are worth taking from that table before any chart is worked. Aries rising is the one sign with no occupancy anywhere inside these three years, so every contact it has in the table above is an aspect. That is a fact about the window rather than about the chart, and the window ends before the answer changes: Rahu enters Scorpio, which is the 8th house for Aries rising, on 11 January 2030 and holds it until 31 July 2031, which is eighteen months of the firmest contact type there is. The Rahu table above already carries that date. And Pisces rising has 102 days of occupancy in the whole three years against 773 for Virgo rising, which is a seven-fold difference decided by nothing except which sign was rising when you were born.

Counted across all 20,000 charts, 93.3% have Saturn or a node occupying the 6th or the 8th at some point in these three years, and the median chart that has any has 566 days of it. So the transit layer says something about almost everybody, which is exactly why it cannot be the whole answer. It is identical for everyone born under the same rising sign, and in this sample each rising sign accounts for between 6.5% and 9.5% of people. A statement true of somewhere between one person in ten and one in fifteen is a long way from a statement about you.

Crossing the two layers

The rule this page ends on is the intersection of the two:

A health window is a date range in which at least two of the three running Vimshottari levels are ruled by your 6th or 8th ruler, and Saturn or a lunar node is occupying your 6th or your 8th at the same time.

Measured across the 20,000 charts, 52.4% have at least one such range in the three years to August 2029, and where one exists the median total is 115 days. So for about half of people the two layers agree somewhere inside three years, for about four months, and for the other half they do not agree at all.

Both of those outcomes are useful, which is the part that usually gets lost. A chart with no agreement is not a chart with no information. It is a chart whose two layers are telling you different things, and the disagreement itself is the reading. The two worked charts below are one of each.

A chart worked end to end

Born 18 May 1992 at 14:59 in Lucknow. Age 34 on 26 August 2026, and every value below is computed from that birth data.

Virgo rises at 14.74 degrees, in Hasta pada 2, a pada being one of the four quarters each nakshatra is divided into. So the 6th house is the whole of Aquarius and the 8th is the whole of Aries.

The 6th ruler is Saturn, and it sits in Capricorn at 24.65 degrees, Dhanishta pada 1, direct, meaning moving forwards against the fixed stars, in one of the two signs it rules, placed in the 5th house. The 8th ruler is Mars, in Pisces at 15.79 degrees, Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4, direct, neutral by dignity, placed in the 7th house. Neither ruler is in trouble, and neither one aspects its own house back: Saturn's gaze from Capricorn falls on the 2nd, 7th and 11th, and Mars's from Pisces on the 1st, 2nd and 10th.

Nothing occupies the 6th. The 8th holds two planets, Mercury at 19.04 Aries in Bharani pada 2, and Venus at 26.83 Aries in Krittika pada 1. Mercury is the ruler of Virgo, so in this chart the planet standing for the body itself sits in the house of pace. AstroMedha's health engine reads exactly that placement as the one-line summary of the chart: energy here is decided by pace, things take the time they take, and forcing them costs twice.

Rahu, from Sagittarius in the 4th, aspects the 8th. Ketu, from Gemini in the 10th, aspects the 6th. Jupiter sits in Leo in the 12th and aspects the 4th, 6th and 8th, so it reaches both load houses from outside them.

That last one looks like protection and the engine does not score it as such, which is worth explaining rather than leaving as a discrepancy. Jupiter's aspect is counted as a floor under whatever it touches only when Jupiter is behaving well for that particular rising sign, and behaviour is decided by what it rules. For Virgo rising Jupiter owns the 4th and the 7th, which are both angles, and a natural benefic owning angles loses its benefic quality under the standard Parashari rule. The engine scores its functional nature at the bottom of its range for this chart, so the aspect is recorded as placement and not counted as margin.

The Moon is in Scorpio at 24.44 degrees, in Jyeshtha pada 3, debilitated, meaning in the sign where it is held to be weakest, and placed in the 3rd house. It was waning at birth but 200.5 degrees from the Sun, which the engine scores as strong by phase at 0.886. This chart is not in sade sati.

The ladder. On 26 August 2026 this chart is running the Sun mahadasha, 21 June 2026 to 20 June 2032. The sub-periods across the next three years are these, with the two rulers marked.

Applying the stricter rule, that two of the three levels must agree, leaves three ranges and 81 days, which is 7.4% of the window against a population median of 7.8%. This is an ordinary chart by that measure.

The transits. Rahu occupies the 6th, Aquarius, from now until 5 December 2026. Saturn occupies the 8th, Aries, from 3 June to 20 October 2027, and again from 23 February 2028 until 8 August 2029.

Crossing them. Two ranges survive both layers.

3 June to 15 August 2027, 73 days. The 8th ruler Mars runs the sub-period and Saturn is physically in the 8th for all of it. Tighter still, the third level inside that sub-period is run by Saturn from 23 May to 12 June, so from 3 to 12 June 2027, nine days, the sub-period ruler, the third-level ruler and the transiting planet all point at the same two houses. Nine days is the sharpest this chart gets in three years, and saying so is more honest than presenting the 73 days as uniform.

27 April to 8 August 2029, 104 days. The 6th ruler Saturn runs the sub-period, and transiting Saturn is still sitting in the 8th until 9 August. The first 54 days of it, to 21 June, also have Saturn at the third level. This is the longest agreement in the window, and it ends on the day Saturn leaves Aries.

Where the layers disagree. Between now and 5 December 2026 the transit layer is on, with Rahu in the 6th, and the ladder layer is entirely off, running Sun and then Moon sub-periods that carry neither ruler. That is the weaker of the two shapes and should be read as such: a general season rather than a personal one, shared with every Virgo rising alive.

The backward check. The same scorer run over periods already lived returns one range for this chart outside the pandemic years: the Venus mahadasha with the Mars sub-period, 20 June 2012 to 21 August 2013, 14 months, scored as harder than the months on either side of it. That is a claim you can mark right or wrong from memory, and a forward window means more once the backward ones have been checked.

The same method where the answer is thinner

Born 10 December 1994 at 15:01 in Lucknow. Age 31 on 26 August 2026.

Aries rises at 19.49 degrees, in Bharani pada 2. So the 6th house is Virgo and the 8th is Scorpio, and Aries is one of the four rising signs where the ruler of the chart also rules a load house: Mars rules both the 1st and the 8th here.

The 6th ruler is Mercury, in Scorpio at 22.23 degrees, Jyeshtha pada 2, in the 8th house, and combust, meaning close enough to the Sun for its own light to be burned out. The 8th ruler is Mars, in Leo at 5.7 degrees, Magha pada 2, in the 5th house. The 8th house itself is crowded, holding the Sun at 24.31 Scorpio, Mercury at 22.23, and Jupiter at 6.41 in Anuradha pada 1. The 12th ruler is Jupiter, and it is one of those three.

That last detail changes the whole reading. When the rulers of the 6th, 8th and 12th sit inside each other's houses, the arrangement is called vipareeta, and it is read as difficulty that turns into strength rather than difficulty that accumulates. Here two of the three qualify: the 6th ruler Mercury is in the 8th, and the 12th ruler Jupiter is in the 8th. The engine's plain reading of it is that two of the three things asking something of this person are tangled in each other, which produces strength that only shows under pressure, and that the person is better described as somebody who recovers from setbacks than as somebody who avoids them.

The Moon is in Pisces at 0.26 degrees, in Purva Bhadrapada pada 4, in the 12th house, waxing at birth and 96 degrees from the Sun, scored at 0.533. The rising sign's ruler Mars sits in the 5th, which the engine turns into the summary line for this chart: energy here is decided by enjoyment, and without something the person actually wants, effort costs double.

The ladder, and why the obvious reading of it is wrong. This chart is in the Mercury mahadasha, 16 August 2017 to 16 August 2034. Mercury is the 6th ruler. So a chapter-level reading marks 1,090 of the 1,096 days in the window and announces that the next three years are one long health period. That is not a finding, it is an artefact of asking the question at the wrong depth, and it is the single commonest way this method gets misused.

Mercury / Rahu12 Feb 2027 to 26 Aug 2029925chapter only

The Mercury and Mars sub-period is the real signal, because both of this chart's rulers hold a level at once. It began on 15 February 2026 and runs to 12 February 2027, so 170 of its 362 days are still ahead as of today. After it closes, the chapter stays marked and the sub-period does not, which leaves the third level as the only thing still telling one month from another for the following two and a half years.

At the third level the chart runs only 14 periods across the window, against a population median of 16, because Rahu's long sub-period subdivides coarsely. Applying the stricter two-level rule leaves seven ranges and 348 days, 31.8% of the window against a population median of 7.8%. This is a heavily marked chart by the ladder.

The first five rows are one continuous block from now to 12 February 2027, and all three levels agree in the first 40 days of it.

The transits, which are the surprise. Aries rising is the one rising sign with no occupancy of the 6th or the 8th inside these three years. Both contacts it has are aspects: Saturn onto the 6th from Pisces, from now to 3 June 2027 and again from 20 October 2027 to 23 February 2028, and Saturn onto the 8th from Taurus once it arrives there on 8 August 2029. The strict crossing rule asks for occupancy rather than aspect, so it returns zero days for this chart, despite 348 marked days on the ladder. That answer belongs to the window and not to the chart: Rahu enters Scorpio, the 8th house here, on 11 January 2030, four months after this scan closes, and holds it for eighteen months.

That is not a failure of the method. It is the method reporting that only one of its two layers has anything to say, which is a materially weaker reading than chart one's nine-day agreement, even though chart two has four times as many marked days.

What Saturn is actually doing here. Saturn is in Pisces, and this chart's Moon is in Pisces, which puts it in the peak phase of sade sati with about 3.3 years still to run. Sade sati is measured from the Moon rather than from the rising sign, so it is a completely different measurement from anything in the table above, and it is the more important Saturn fact for this person. Its reputation overstates it: what it reliably describes is a period asking for endurance and paying back routine, and the useful part is that it is dated at both ends.

The backward check. This chart shows two lived ranges for this chart. The Mercury mahadasha with the Sun sub-period, 10 November 2023 to 15 September 2024, ten months, scored as uneven, with good and flat stretches close together. And the Mercury mahadasha with the Ketu sub-period, 13 January 2020 to 9 January 2021, twelve months, scored as harder than the months either side. The second one is ordered last and flagged, because it overlaps the pandemic and a claim that cannot fail is not a check.

When the two layers disagree

Three shapes come out of the crossing, and they are not equivalent.

Both layers on. The tightest reading available. Chart one has nine days of it in June 2027 and 54 days in the middle of 2029. About half of all charts get some of this in a three-year span, for a median of 115 days.

The ladder on, the transits off. Chart two, for the next six months. The reading is personal, because the ladder comes from your own Moon, but nothing in the sky is reinforcing it. Treat the dates as real and the intensity as unproven.

The transits on, the ladder off. Chart one, until December 2026. The weakest of the three, because the transit layer is shared by everyone with the same rising sign, which is between one person in ten and one in fifteen. If a general Saturn or Rahu article seems to describe you and your own ladder is quiet, this is usually why.

The ordering is not arbitrary. The ladder is derived from your Moon's position at birth, which is unique to a few minutes of clock time, so it distinguishes you. The transit layer distinguishes only your rising sign. When they disagree, weight the one that knows more about you.

What a wrong birth time does to this

The method below depends on the birth time twice over, and it depends on it unevenly, which is worth knowing before you act on any date.

Five thousand charts were recomputed at offsets of 5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes from their own birth times, and the two halves were compared separately.

Birth-time errorRising sign changes6th ruler changes8th ruler changesFirst chapter ruler changes
5 minutes3.8%3.5%3.6%0.4%
15 minutes12.4%11.3%11.5%1.0%
30 minutes24.3%22.4%22.3%2.2%
60 minutes49.8%46.1%45.9%4.4%

An hour of error rewrites which two planets you are filtering on in nearly half of all charts. That is not a small distortion of the answer, it is a different question being answered, because the rising sign moves about one sign every two hours and both rulers change with it.

The ladder is far steadier, and for a reason worth stating: it depends on the Moon, which moves about 13 degrees a day, while a nakshatra is 13.33 degrees wide. An hour moves the Moon about half a degree, so it rarely crosses a boundary and rarely changes which ruler you were born into. But the boundaries themselves still slide, in proportion.

5 minutes20 days26 days
15 minutes58 days76 days
30 minutes115 days153 days
60 minutes231 days311 days

So a half-hour of uncertainty moves your dated boundaries by about four months even when it leaves the rulers alone. If your birth time came from a family memory rather than a certificate, the practical reading is to treat the two ruler names as provisional, lean on the sub-period structure rather than on the exact day a range opens, and get the time rectified before planning anything tight around a boundary.

What this page does not answer

Whether anything is wrong with you. Only a doctor who has examined you can say that, and this page will not have an opinion about it however many layers agree.

The D-6 Shashtamsa. The D-6 is the divisional chart, meaning a second wheel derived from the birth chart by cutting each sign into equal parts, that classical practice reads for this subject specifically. AstroMedha's engine computes the classical sixteen plus the D-5 and the D-8, and it does not compute the D-6, so no D-6 position appears anywhere on this page. There is a published explainer of what the D-6 is at the D-6 Shashtamsa chart, and it is linked as background rather than used for a computed claim here. When the engine computes it, this page gets a third layer and the strict rule gets tighter.

How long anybody has. The bands here describe workload. Read a demanding one the way you would read a heavy quarter at work.

A date for an event. Every range on this page dates a demand on your time. It does not date anything happening in a body, and the difference is not a technicality.

Anything about a named condition. The engine that produced these numbers is built so that it cannot name one, and the tables inherit that limit.

Reading your own chart

Everything above is the method, and it is the whole method. What it needs from you is the part no article can supply.

Your date, time and place of birth produce the rising sign, and the rising sign produces the two ruler names. The same birth data produces the Moon's exact longitude, which produces your ladder and every boundary date inside it. Give AstroMedha those three things and it returns the same output the two worked charts show, on your chart: both ruler names with where each one sits and what condition it is in, your sub-periods and third-level periods across the next 36 months with every row marked or not, the ranges where two levels agree, your own transit contacts with the exact ingress dates, the ranges where both layers hold, and the backward periods to check against your own memory before you trust anything forward.

It also returns the part that is not a table: how your 6th, 8th and 12th are actually configured, where each ruler landed, what occupies them, and what that combination means for how much margin you have when a demanding period does arrive. Chart two above is the example of why that half matters. Its ladder is heavily marked and its transit layer is empty, and the thing that most changes how to read it is a vipareeta arrangement that no calendar would show.

Method note. Every sign, degree, nakshatra, pada, dignity, aspect, house placement, dasha boundary and transit ingress on this page was computed with AstroMedha's sidereal Vedic engine using the Lahiri ayanamsa and the Swiss Ephemeris, with mean nodes and whole-sign houses. Transit ingress dates were found by day-resolution binary search over the ephemeris rather than taken from a table of approximate years, and the two occasions on which Saturn steps backwards into the sign it just left are reported as separate passages rather than merged into one. The population figures come from a 20,000-chart study, seed 20260826, with births uniform between 1 January 1960 and 31 December 2005, clock time uniform across the day and birthplace uniform across ten Indian cities; the birth-time sensitivity figures come from a 5,000-chart scan on the same seed. The reading of the 6th, 8th and 12th, the vipareeta test, the sade sati state and the banded forward and backward periods for both worked charts come from the same health engine that produces AstroMedha's readings, under its own safety contract, which forbids naming a condition or a part of the body, forbids predicting a bodily event on any date, forbids counting anybody's years, and forbids placing any step in front of seeing a doctor. Figures are current as of 26 August 2026.

Common questions

Saturn is in my 8th house right now. Is that bad?
It is one contact of one layer. Five rising signs get Saturn occupying their 6th or their 8th somewhere between now and August 2029. Two of them have it today, Leo in the 8th and Libra in the 6th, and Virgo, Scorpio and Sagittarius get theirs later. On its own that says a season is shared by everyone of your rising sign. It becomes a reading about you when your own ladder agrees with it, which happens for 52.4% of charts across three years. My mahadasha ruler is my 6th ruler for the next seventeen years. Is that seventeen bad years? No, and chart two above is exactly this case. A 17-year Mercury chapter for an Aries rising marks 1,090 of the next 1,096 days at chapter level, which means the chapter level can no longer tell one month from another and you have to read the sub-period and the third level instead. When those are read, the marked total drops to 348 days and lands mostly in one block ending 12 February 2027.
I am in sade sati. Is that the same thing as a health window?
No. Sade sati is Saturn's transit measured from your natal Moon, and everything on this page is measured from your rising sign. They can be completely out of step. Chart two is in the peak phase of sade sati with about 3.3 years still to run, and the Saturn transit driving that sade sati is measured from a Pisces Moon, while the only Saturn contacts with its 6th and 8th houses are aspects thrown from the same Pisces and later from Taurus. Same planet, two unrelated readings.
Nothing is marked in my next three years. What does that mean?
That happens to 26.3% of charts at sub-period depth and 30.4% under the stricter two-level rule, so it is common rather than unusual. The median chart's longest unmarked gap is 651 days. An unmarked period is when groundwork is cheapest: the tests, the appointments, the routine that is hard to start in a busy season.
Can it tell me when I will get better?
No. Recovery is a medical question about a person and this is an arithmetic question about a calendar. What the 8th signature says is about pace, which is the part you can act on: in a period where the 8th ruler is prominent, plans that assume speed tend to cost more than plans that assume patience.
Two astrologers gave me different 6th and 8th rulers. Which is right?
They are almost certainly using different rising signs, which means different birth times or different house systems. Ask each of them for the ascendant degree they used. If those differ, the birth time is the thing to settle. A 30-minute difference changes the 6th ruler in 22.4% of charts, so this is the single disagreement most worth resolving before anything else.
Why does this page read the 8th as pace?
Because pace is the part of the 8th's meaning that a date can carry and that a reader can act on. The house governs what is slow-moving and takes its own time to turn over. A range saying that the next four months will not be hurried is something you can use on Monday morning, by not committing to a timeline that assumes speed.
Does the transit layer work without a birth time?
Partly. Every transit row in the table above needs only the rising sign, so if you know your rising sign you can use it. The ladder half needs the Moon's longitude, which needs the date at minimum and gets much sharper with the time. A chart with no reliable time can still read the transit layer and should treat it as the weaker of the two, for the reason in the disagreement section.
