India & the markets: the Vedic read

Two hard years for Indian equities. Here is when the engine says they turn — and how the next decade looks for India through AI, jobs and geopolitics. Computed on the Independence chart and three market charts, not opinion.

Three market charts, one verdict

One chart is a horoscope; three independent charts agreeing is a signal. Each was run through the same engine.

India (Republic / Taurus lagna)

15 Aug 1947, 00:00 IST, New Delhi

Mars Mahadasha, Sep 2025 → Sep 2032

Rahu exalted in the 1st house · Mars in the 2nd, ruling the 7th & 12th

Mars–Jupiter (Feb 2027 → Jan 2028) = the structural upturn

NSE (National Stock Exchange)

27 Nov 1992, Mumbai

Mars Mahadasha, Jul 2024 → Jul 2031

Natal Mars debilitated — which is why the volatility has bitten

Mars–Jupiter runs now through Dec 2026 = the base year

Sensex base (BSE index)

1 Apr 1979, Mumbai

Jupiter Mahadasha, Jun 2013 → Jun 2029

Natal Jupiter AND Moon both exalted — a genuine wealth chart

Jupiter–Rahu (Jan 2027 → Jun 2029) = the momentum leg

The combined timeline

  1. Now → end 2026The floor

NSE in its Jupiter sub-period · exalted Jupiter transits the natal stellium

The floor. A base builds and improves through 2026 — but jagged. Accumulate on dips, don't chase. This is where the two hurting years bottom out.

  2. H1 2027 onwardLift-off

    India Mars–Jupiter + Sensex-base flips into Jupiter–Rahu

The decisive up-leg. Two charts turn expansive in the same quarter — the cleanest bullish window in the whole set. If you circle one date, circle early 2027.

  3. Late 2027 → 2029Consolidate

Mars–Saturn on two charts · Saturn transits debilitated into Aries (12th)

Heavier and two-faced. A momentum blow-off into 2028 that then has to be digested. Consolidation, not collapse — but stop expecting easy gains.

  4. June 2029Regime change

Sensex-base leaves its 16-year Jupiter era → enters Saturn

The regime change. The easy-expansion era that has run since 2013 matures here. This — not 2026 — is the real long-horizon caution flag.

The 78-year backtest

Does the chart match India's history?

The reason to take the forward call seriously. For each ruling-planet era since Independence — dates computed by the engine — does the planet's classical meaning match what actually happened? Graded honestly; the moderate fits stay in.

1947 – 1965 · Saturn

Strong fit

Rules the 9th (dharma, fortune) & 10th (governance); sits in the 3rd (effort). Karaka of discipline, institutions, hardship and the slow build.

  • Partition and the refugee crisis; Gandhi's assassination (1948)
  • The Constitution & Republic (1950) — law and structure, pure Saturn
  • Five-Year Plans, PSUs, dams — the disciplined socialist state
  • The 1962 China war defeat — a textbook Saturn humiliation/setback
  • The 1965 Pakistan war

Saturn is the austere institution-builder. Nehruvian state-building plus the 1962 setback is a clean fit.

1965 – 1982 · Mercury

Moderate fit

Rules the 2nd (wealth, food) & 5th (intellect, politics); sits in the 3rd. Karaka of duality, restlessness, commerce, science and communication.

  • The Green Revolution — food self-sufficiency through agri-science (Mercury)
  • 1966 Indira to power; the rupee devaluation; bank nationalisation (1969)
  • 1971 Bangladesh victory and the 1974 nuclear test
  • The Emergency (1975–77) — rights suspended; then India's first non-Congress government (1977)

Mercury's duality matches the era's whiplash power-flips; the science/agri strides fit. A mixed, busy era — graded honestly.

1982 – 1989 · Ketu

Striking fit

Exalted in the 7th (Scorpio). Karaka of sudden rupture, separation, assassination, insurgency and catastrophe.

  • Operation Blue Star and Indira Gandhi's assassination (1984)
  • The Bhopal gas disaster (1984) — sudden mass-casualty catastrophe
  • Punjab and Kashmir insurgencies escalate — separatism
  • The Bofors scandal (1987) and the fall of the government (1989)

Ketu's exact significations — assassination, sudden disaster, separatism — all land inside one 7-year window. The most uncanny fit in the set.

1989 – 2009 · Venus

Striking fit

The ascendant lord itself (Taurus); also rules the 6th; sits in the 3rd. Karaka of wealth, markets, luxury, comfort and the material good life.

  • The 1991 liberalisation — the defining economic turn, born in a balance-of-payments crisis
  • The IT & services boom; the rise of a vast middle class and consumer India
  • 8–9% growth, the telecom revolution, 'India Shining'; the Sensex up roughly 20-fold
  • Bookended by shocks: 1992 Babri & the Harshad Mehta scam at the open, the 2008 crisis at the close

A 20-year Venus mahadasha bracketing India's shift from socialist scarcity to a market economy. Venus is the planet of wealth — and this is India's wealth era.

2009 – 2015 · Sun

Moderate fit

Rules the 4th (Leo). Karaka of authority, government, the king, ego and power.

  • UPA-2 policy paralysis; the 2G, coal and CWG mega-scams — authority discredited
  • The 2011 anti-corruption movement — legitimacy in crisis
  • The 2014 Modi landslide — the return of a strong central figure

The 'kingship' theme fits: a weak authority decaying, then a dominant one rising. A clean arc, if a softer fit than the giants around it.

2015 – 2025 · Moon

Strong fit

In its own sign Cancer (strong), in the 3rd. Karaka of the masses, public mood, popularity, welfare and — as a water/fluid significator — public health.

  • Mass-popularity politics; demonetisation (2016) as a mass shock; GST; the 2019 landslide
  • Direct welfare at scale — Jan Dhan, free rations to hundreds of millions
  • COVID-19 (2020) — a public-health/mass crisis (Moon = fluids, contagion, the people)
  • The post-COVID boom as retail investors — the masses — pour into equities

A decade of mass mobilisation, welfare and a pandemic is a clean Moon signature — the public, and a leader who speaks to it.

Six completed eras since Independence. Four are strong-to-striking fits — the Ketu years of assassination and disaster (1982–89) and the 20-year Venus wealth-era of liberalisation (1989–2009) are uncanny — and the two moderate ones still match the era's character. Read honestly, the dasha lord's classical signification tracks the dominant theme of each era with real consistency. That track record is exactly why the Mars decade ahead, and the Rahu breakout after it, deserve a serious look. (Retrodiction, not a blind forward test — but the pattern is the point.)

2025 – 2032 · Mars. The muscular decade — assertion, infrastructure, hard power, friction that builds wealth.

2032 – 2050 · Rahu. The breakout — an 18-year Rahu era over India's exalted lagna-Rahu: technological ascendance and global visibility.

The markets backtest

Does the Sensex's own chart match the market's history?

The same test, run on the index's chart (1 April 1979). For each ruling-planet era, what did the market actually do — and does the planet's nature fit the tape?

1979 – 1988 · Moon

Moderate fit

Karaka of the public, sentiment and fluctuation — a nascent, sentiment-led market with little public participation yet.

The sleepy base years: the Sensex inches from a base of 100 to a few hundred, a market still finding its feet.

A quiet, low-participation start fits the Moon's soft, formative tone — but it's a gentle read, graded as such.

1988 – 1995 · Mars

Strong fit

Karaka of aggression, speed, force and sudden sharp moves — the speculative, take-no-prisoners energy.

India's first great speculative bull and bust: the Harshad Mehta scam drives the Sensex from ~1,000 to ~4,500 (1991–92), then the crash and the securities scandal.

Mars is the planet of aggressive speculation. The first manic bull-and-scam in Indian market history sits squarely in its mahadasha.

1995 – 2013 · Rahu

Striking fit

Karaka of bubbles, leverage, foreign money, mania and the casino — the planet of insatiable, illusory expansion that always ends in a crash.

The casino era. The dotcom/Ketan Parekh bubble and 2000 crash; the 2003–08 FII supercycle (Sensex ~3,000 → ~21,000); and the 2008 global crash (~21,000 → ~8,000). Both crashes land inside Rahu sub-periods.

The single most bubble-and-crash-prone 18 years in Indian market history sit inside an 18-year Rahu mahadasha. Rahu is the casino — foreign flows, leverage, manias that break.

2013 – 2029 · Jupiter

Strong fit

Karaka of broad, sustained, wisdom-led expansion and institutional wealth — growth, not mania.

The structural bull. It began on a clean Jupiter–Jupiter–Jupiter signature (Sep 2013); a V-shaped recovery from the 2020 COVID low (a Saturn-pratyantar fear-spike inside intact Jupiter); the long grind toward ~85,000. The 2025–26 drawdown is a Jupiter–Mars correction, not a regime end.

A 16-year broad-based bull from a triple-Jupiter start, punctuated by a sharp-but-recovered shock — expansion, not the Rahu casino. The contrast with the era before it is the tell.

WhenMarket turning pointDasha running
1992Harshad Mehta peak → scam crashMars–Mercury
2000Dotcom / Ketan Parekh peak → crashRahu–Jupiter
2003The great bull market beginsRahu–Saturn
2008GFC peak (~21,000) → crashRahu–Venus

2020COVID crash bottom → V-recoveryJupiter–Mercury–Saturn
2021Post-COVID peak (~62,000)Jupiter–Venus
2025–26Recent peak → the current drawdownJupiter–Moon → Jupiter–Mars

Read against the Sensex's own chart, the pattern is hard to unsee: Rahu's 18 years (1995–2013) hold every bubble and every crash — the casino decades — while Jupiter's 16 years (2013–2029) are the structural bull that opened on a triple-Jupiter signature. The crashes cluster in Rahu sub-periods; the sharp COVID low was a Saturn pratyantar inside intact Jupiter, which is why it recovered in a V rather than a long bear. That places the 2025–26 fall as a Jupiter–Mars correction within an intact expansion — and the real regime change at Saturn in June 2029, when the easy bull finally matures. (Retrodiction, read honestly — but the fit between planet and price is the point.)

The gold study

Where do gold prices go from here?

Gold is Jupiter's metal and a Saturn safe-haven. Anchored to the day gold floated free (15 Aug 1971), the same backtest reads gold's history — and dates the turn.

1974 – 1992 · Rahu

Strong fit

Karaka of mania, leverage and the speculative blow-off — and of the bust that follows.

The 1970s gold mania: $35 to ~$850 by January 1980, then a long grinding bear through the 1980s. The 1980 blow-off top lands in Rahu–Saturn.

An 18-year Rahu mahadasha brackets gold's first great mania and its hangover — Rahu inflates, then deflates.

1992 – 2008 · Jupiter

Strong fit

Gold's own significator — the store of value reasserting itself.

The long base and the turn: gold bottoms near $255 in 2001 (in Jupiter–Venus) and begins the secular bull that defines the next decade.

Gold's value-store nature reawakening under its own karaka — the secular bull is born inside the Jupiter period.

2008 – 2027 · Saturn

Striking fit

Karaka of fear, crisis, debt and hard assets — the safe-haven engine itself.

The modern safe-haven supercycle. The 2011 peak ($1,920) in Saturn–Mercury; the 2020 COVID peak (~$2,070) in Saturn–Moon; the 2024–25 record-high breakout in Saturn–Jupiter — fear fused with gold's own significator.

Gold's entire post-2008 era as THE crisis asset is one 19-year Saturn mahadasha, and the all-time-high run is Saturn–Jupiter. The most gold-bullish combination there is, exactly when gold went vertical.

The outlook

  1. Now → ~Q1 2027Peak zone

Strong — and likely the peak zone. Saturn–Jupiter runs until March 2027 and Jupiter goes exalted in Cancer mid-2026; both fuel gold. If a blow-off high comes, this window is where it completes.

  2. ~March 2027Regime change

The regime change. Gold's 19-year Saturn safe-haven supercycle matures into a 17-year Mercury mahadasha — airy, commercial, risk-on. The engine behind the relentless bull switches off here.

  3. 2027 onwardRotation

Consolidation, not a one-way bull — range rather than crash. The easy money is largely made by early 2027. This lines up with the equity lift-off: capital rotates out of safe-haven gold and into equities. Same pivot, opposite assets.

Read against gold's own chart, the safe-haven supercycle that took gold to records is a 19-year Saturn mahadasha — and it matures in March 2027 into a risk-on Mercury era. That dates the top zone to now-through-early-2027 and the rotation to 2027, the very quarter the equity charts turn up. For a rupee holder, the weak-rupee Mars decade cushions INR gold even after the dollar driver fades — hold it as a hedge, lighten it as a momentum trade into 2027 strength. Symbolic timing, not a price target — but the astrology and the macro tell one story.

Gold's 19-year fear-supercycle matures in 2027 — the very quarter equities turn up. Same pivot, opposite assets.

India as a country — the Mars decade

AI & disruption — India is built to ride it

India's chart has Rahu — technology, disruption, sudden leapfrogging — exalted in the 1st house of national identity. The IT boom was a Rahu story. AI is the most Rahu force on Earth, and an exalted lagna-Rahu means India absorbs the wave into stature rather than drowning in it. The joblessness fear is real (Rahu churns), but structurally India comes out higher, not lower.

The jobs stress has a window

The Saturn-debilitated-in-12th plus Mars–Saturn stretch — roughly 2027 to 2029 — is where displacement, labour stress and social friction read hardest. Then Mars–Mercury (2029–30), Mercury ruling skills and commerce, reads as the re-skilling and new-work-formation recovery. Turbulence peaks ~2027–29; the answer arrives by 2029–30.

Geopolitics — tension is baked in, but India asserts

Mars rules the 7th (adversaries, foreign relations, war) and 12th (borders, defence) and sits in the 2nd (treasury). A Mars Mahadasha is a muscular, assertive, hard-power decade — elevated border and neighbour friction is part of the package for the whole 2025–32 run. But Mars in the 2nd means that assertiveness builds wealth. This is a rising-power era, not a victim era.

Markets, rupee, sectors

Structural sector winners are the Mars signatures — defence, infrastructure, capital goods, metals, energy, PSUs — plus tech and AI amplified by the exalted-Rahu lagna. The rupee sits in a weak-currency-but-strong-reserves era (Mars rules the 12th of forex, sits in the 2nd of treasury), with external-account stress worst during Mars–Saturn (2028–29).

The real breakout is 2032

Mars Mahadasha ends in September 2032 and India enters an 18-year Rahu Mahadasha — running over its own exalted lagna-Rahu. A Rahu major-period on an exalted Rahu is potentially the defining technological-ascendance, global-visibility era for the country. The Mars decade is the muscular build-up. The Rahu era is the breakout.

A fresh India & markets read every Sunday — with a scored track record of last week's calls.

This is symbolic national and market timing computed from Vedic charts — a lens, not financial advice. Markets move on fundamentals, policy and flows. Read it for perspective, weigh it with your own judgement, and never trade on it alone.

2027 is one pivot, two assets: equities turn up just as gold's fear-supercycle turns down.
