The difficulty is that effort becomes the identity, and effort has no natural stopping point. This placement frequently produces people who cannot rest without feeling they have become someone else. They convert every interest into a discipline.

The second cost is scale. The 3rd is the house of what you do with your own hands. So the person can consistently under-reach. They do personally what should have been delegated, and stay at the size one pair of hands can manage. The correction, when it comes, is usually the discovery that the thing they built cannot grow past them.

Siblings, specifically
