Gemstone Calculator

Your Vedic life stone — the gem of your Lagna lord, with how to wear it and the honest caution.

Birth time gives the Lagna-lord stone; without it we use your Moon-sign lord.

Your Life Stone

In Vedic astrology, the safest gemstone to wear lifelong is the one ruled by your Lagna lord — the planet that governs your rising sign and, with it, your vitality and direction. This calculator names that stone, the metal and finger for it, and the weekday to first wear it. It also tells you plainly when to test a stone first, because gems like Blue Sapphire act fast and are not for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is my lucky gemstone chosen?

The classical 'life stone' (Jyanma) is the gem of your Lagna lord — the planet ruling your rising sign — because that planet governs your whole life and body. If your birth time is unknown, the Moon-sign lord is used instead. This is the standard parashari rule, not a sales pitch.

Which planet rules which gemstone?

Sun–Ruby, Moon–Pearl, Mars–Red Coral, Mercury–Emerald, Jupiter–Yellow Sapphire, Venus–Diamond, Saturn–Blue Sapphire, Rahu–Hessonite (Gomed), Ketu–Cat's Eye. Your life stone is the gem of whichever planet rules your ascendant.

Should I just buy the stone the calculator shows?

Not blindly. Blue Sapphire and Hessonite especially are fast-acting and should be test-worn for a few days first. And the life stone is only one approach — some astrologers strengthen a benefic yogakaraka or a weak-but-important planet instead. Confirm against your full chart before spending.

How should I wear a gemstone?

Traditionally the stone touches the skin, set in the prescribed metal, worn on the prescribed finger, and first put on during the planet's hora on its weekday after cleansing. Quality and natural (untreated) origin matter more than size.
