When Will I Get a Job? Your Next 24 Months, Month by Month

Someone typed this into our chart chat in July: "When will i get job i lost job in april then again unstable job and left in july now when ?"

The answer this method can honestly give is a dated one, and it has three parts. Where the two slow planets sit relative to your house of work, which changes on nine known dates between September 2026 and August 2028. Which planetary period you are running, which changes on dates unique to you. And where the Sun is in a given month, which is fixed for everybody and printed below.

Two of those three you can read for yourself, right here, if you know the sign that was rising when you were born. The third needs your birth time to the minute, and the last part of this page measures exactly how much it needs it.

The principle, before any of the tables

A Vedic reading of employment timing asks one question in three registers: is your chart's hiring machinery switched on right now, and if it is not, when does it switch on next?

The machinery is a small set of houses and the planets that rule them. Switching on happens two ways, and the two are different in kind. A dasha, which is a planetary period the tradition uses to divide a life into dated chapters, switches the machinery on from the inside, because a period ruled by the planet that governs your work houses is a period in which those houses become the live business of your life. A transit switches it on from the outside, because a slow planet arriving in your house of work applies pressure or support to that house whatever period you are running.

Neither one alone is the answer. A supportive transit during a period with nothing to do with work usually produces interest without an offer. A work period with no transit support usually produces an offer that takes longer and costs more effort than it should. The months worth circling are the ones where both are true at once, and the point of the tables below is to let you find yours.

Layer one: the houses that hire, and who rules them in your chart

Four houses carry employment in this system, and they carry different parts of it.

The 6th is the house most job seekers underweight. An interview is a competitive process in which you are ranked against other people who also want the role, and competition is 6th-house business. The 10th describes what the job is. The 6th describes whether you win it.

Each house is ruled by a planet, decided by the sign that falls in it, which in turn is decided by your lagna, the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the minute and place you were born. So "my 10th lord" means a different planet for a Scorpio rising than for a Capricorn rising, and that is the first place a general answer to this question goes wrong.

Two rows change what a period means before anyone looks at a placement. For Capricorn rising, Venus rules both the 10th and the 5th, which makes it a yogakaraka, a single planet ruling both an angle and a trine, and the strongest kind of helpful planet a chart can carry. A Venus period for a Capricorn rising is a work period by construction. For Gemini and Pisces rising, Jupiter rules the 10th, and Jupiter is also the planet that spends about a year in each sign, so its transit and its period speak to the same house.

Layer two: where Saturn and Jupiter will be, for the next 24 months

Saturn and Jupiter are slow enough to define a season rather than a week, which is why every timing method leans on them. Below is every sign change either of them makes in the window, plus the two lunar nodes for completeness, taken from a daily walk of the ephemeris across 915 days.

Both planets step backwards into the sign they just left and then move forward again, which is why Saturn appears in Pisces twice and Jupiter in Leo three times. Those are not duplicates in the table. A backward step is a real re-entry, it does re-open the earlier window, and each span is dated separately rather than smoothed into one long one, because choosing how wide a gap to forgive would be a guess and nothing measures it.

What those two grids say, read out loud

Three rising signs get Jupiter into the 10th house in these 24 months, and two get Saturn there. Everybody else gets neither.

Libra rising has the most favourable transit shape available in this window. Jupiter is in your 10th from 1 Sep to 31 Oct 2026 and again from 25 Jan to 25 Jun 2027, then sits in your 11th of gains for most of the rest of the window. Saturn is in your 6th of competition from 1 Sep 2026 to 2 Jun 2027 and again from 20 Oct 2027 to 23 Feb 2028. Support on the work house and stamina in the competition house at the same time is as good as the slow layer gets.

Scorpio rising gets Jupiter in the 10th from 31 Oct 2026 to 24 Jan 2027, from 26 Jun to 26 Nov 2027, and from 28 Feb to 24 Jul 2028, which is 386 of the 731 days in the window. Saturn reaches your 6th from 3 Jun to 19 Oct 2027 and from 23 Feb to 31 Aug 2028.

Sagittarius rising gets Jupiter in the 10th late, from 26 Nov 2027 to 28 Feb 2028 and again from 24 Jul 2028. The first fifteen months carry no slow-planet support on the work house, which is a good thing to know in advance rather than to discover in month twelve.

Gemini and Cancer rising get Saturn occupying the 10th instead: Gemini from 1 Sep 2026 to 2 Jun 2027 and 20 Oct 2027 to 23 Feb 2028, Cancer from 3 Jun to 19 Oct 2027 and 23 Feb to 31 Aug 2028. Saturn in the 10th is weight rather than lift. It reads as long hours, restructuring, and a role that gets heavier before it gets better. For someone already employed it argues against switching on impulse. For someone job hunting it says the role you land in that stretch will be one you grow into the hard way rather than a soft entry, and that the reward arrives after Saturn moves on.

Every other rising sign has neither slow planet touching the 10th in this window. That is the ordinary state and it is not a bad sign. It means your transit layer is quiet and the dated answer to your question lives almost entirely in the period ladder, which is layer three.

One more reading off the same Saturn grid, this time against your Moon sign rather than your rising sign. If your Moon is in Aries or Pisces, Saturn is crossing the three signs around it for the whole 24 months. That stretch is called Sade Sati, the roughly seven and a half years in which Saturn passes through the sign before your Moon, your Moon's own sign, and the sign after it. It reads as pressure on your base and your steadiness rather than as a verdict on your work, and it argues for protecting what you have and cutting what drains you before launching anything risky. An Aquarius Moon is in it from 1 Sep 2026 to 2 Jun 2027 and 20 Oct 2027 to 23 Feb 2028. A Taurus Moon enters it from 3 Jun to 19 Oct 2027 and from 23 Feb to 31 Aug 2028.

The double transit, and who actually gets one

The tradition's plainest rule for a rise at work is that the 10th house delivers when both Saturn and Jupiter reach it at the same time, either by sitting in it or by casting an aspect on it. Jupiter opens the door and Saturn makes it stick, and neither one on its own is the signature.

Aspects here are directional and asymmetric, which is where most casual readings of this rule go wrong. Every planet aspects the 7th sign from itself. Beyond that, Jupiter also aspects the 5th and the 9th from itself, and Saturn also aspects the 3rd and the 10th from itself. Jupiter has no 11th aspect, however often that gets written down.

Saturn and Jupiter take about twenty years to complete their cycle against each other, so a double transit on any one house runs for a stretch of months every few years and is absent the rest of the time. Absence is the normal reading, not a failure to find anything.

Gemini rising gets the most of it, 279 days across three separate spans, and the Gemini reading is therefore genuinely mixed rather than simply good: Saturn is grinding through the 10th house and the double-transit rule is satisfied at the same time for nine of those months. That combination reads as a hard, real step up rather than an easy one.

The table above covers only the 10th house itself. The rule has a second target, the sign your 10th lord happens to occupy, because a house's business travels with its ruler. That target is different for every chart, and adding it changes the picture a great deal. Across a sample of 2,924 charts born between 1996 and 2005, 74.25% have at least one double-transit window on one target or the other inside these 24 months, with a median of 89 days of it and a 90th percentile of 329 days. Which target, and on which dates, is the part the table cannot give you, because it needs to know where your own 10th lord sits.

The Sun, which turns a season into a month

Saturn and Jupiter give you a season. The Sun gives you the month inside it. The Sun spends about thirty days in each sign and crosses every house once a year, and its passage through the 10th and the 6th is the classical fine-timing marker for the weeks when interviews cluster and offers get signed. Every date below is fixed and applies to everybody with that rising sign.

Because it repeats every year, the Sun is a scheduling aid rather than a cause. It tells you which four weeks to have your applications already out, your references already warm and your calendar already clear. It does not by itself open a window the slower layers have closed.

Layer three: the period ladder, which is where the specific months come from

Vimshottari is the 120-year cycle of planetary periods that Vedic astrology times a life by, and it is the layer that makes a month-by-month answer possible at all. It divides your life into nine major periods called mahadashas, each ruled by one planet and each lasting a fixed number of years: Ketu 7, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19, Mercury 17. Inside each mahadasha runs an antardasha, a sub-period ruled by each of the nine planets in turn, in the same order. Inside each antardasha runs a pratyantar, a sub-period one level smaller again. Three levels, and the third is where a period lasts weeks rather than years, which is the resolution someone asking about this month actually needs.

The whole ladder is anchored by one number, the exact longitude of your Moon at birth. That fixes your birth nakshatra, which is the 27-part division of the zodiac the Moon travels through, and how far through it the Moon had already gone decides how much of your first mahadasha had already elapsed when you were born. Every date in the ladder, for your whole life, counts from that single figure.

The rule that turns the ladder into a job answer: a period ruled by your 10th lord or your 6th lord is a period in which the work houses are the live business of your life. A period ruled by your 2nd or 11th lord adds the money and the arrival of the offer. A period ruled by a planet with no connection to those four houses is usually one in which effort in this direction converts more slowly, and the honest instruction for those months is to build the thing the next period will pay for.

A second reading lies over that one. The same lordship that makes a planet relevant also decides its functional nature, which is how Parashari practice, the classical school this whole reading follows, says whether a planet behaves well or badly for your particular rising sign. Ruling the 1st, 5th or 9th makes a planet functionally benefic for you, meaning it tends to deliver what it touches. Ruling the 6th or 8th makes it functionally malefic, meaning it tends to charge for what it delivers. Rahu and Ketu rule no sign and stay neutral. A planet holding both kinds of lordship is decided by the better one, so Mars for a Scorpio rising rules the 1st and the 6th and reads as benefic, and Mercury for a Capricorn rising rules the 6th and the 9th and reads as benefic too.

Look at what that does to the Scorpio row. The Sun rules the 10th for a Scorpio rising and rules nothing else, so it carries no functional colour at all and comes out neutral. A Sun period for a Scorpio rising is a work period with no built-in bias in either direction, and what it delivers depends on where the Sun actually sits in that particular chart. Compare Capricorn, where Venus rules the 10th and the 5th and is the strongest helpful planet the chart has. The question "is my 10th-lord period good news" has a different structural answer for those two before anybody looks at a single placement.

What the ladder produces, measured across 9,744 charts

A rule is only useful if you know how often it fires. We cast 9,744 charts, one every three days from 1 January 1996 to 31 December 2005 at eight birth times a day, for New Delhi, and read each one's full three-level ladder across 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2028.

The median row is the one that settles the general question. The typical chart has about seven of these twenty-four months switched on, not two and not twenty. So the honest general answer to "when will I get a job" is that roughly a third of any two-year stretch is structurally favourable and the rest is not, and the whole value of a personal reading is knowing which third.

The shape of those months matters as much as the count. Across a second sample of 8,526 charts, counting only unbroken stretches of 30 days or more:

And where they fall answers the question job seekers actually mean, which is whether waiting is the right move.

For seven charts in ten, waiting for a better window is the wrong move, because a window exists in each half and the nearer one is already inside the next twelve months. For about one chart in eight the front half is the whole opportunity and delay is expensive. For about one in seven the reverse holds, and the front half is better spent building than applying. Which of those three you are is a fact about your birth data and nothing else.

Two charts, the same 24 months, two opposite answers

Both charts below are computed from real birth data by the same method, read across the same window, and shown in full rather than summarised.

Chart one: 26 June 1999, 17:07, Hyderabad

Scorpio rising, Moon in Scorpio in the 1st house, in the nakshatra Anuradha. The 10th lord is the Sun, in Gemini in the 8th house. The 6th lord is Mars, in Libra in the 12th. Saturn and Jupiter both sit in Aries in the 6th house at birth, which puts the planet of long service and the planet of expansion together in the house of competitive work.

Here is the transit layer for a Scorpio rising, phase by phase, with the reading each phase carries.

That is a favourable transit map by any reading. Now the period ladder, which is the layer that says which weeks inside it.

Put the two layers side by side and the answer comes out as dated windows rather than as "sometime". The two work-lord windows in the first year are 18 and 21 days long, too short to build a job hunt around, and they fall while a seven-year Ketu mahadasha is closing out. Ketu is the period of detachment and of work done out of sight, and its final months are usually its least rewarding stretch for anything that needs to be seen.

The date that changes this chart is 7 May 2027, when the twenty-year Venus mahadasha opens. Six months after that, from 26 November 2027 to 26 January 2028, the Sun sub-period runs, and the Sun is this chart's 10th lord. Jupiter is in the 11th house of gains for that entire stretch. That is the first window in the 24 months where the period layer and the transit layer point at work together, and it is 61 days wide. The second is 7 May to 17 July 2028, the Mars sub-period, Mars being the 6th lord of competition and functionally benefic here because it also rules the 1st, with Jupiter back in the 10th house for the whole span.

The double-transit rule never completes for this chart. Jupiter occupies the 10th three times, but Saturn never reaches Leo or Gemini, which are this chart's two target signs, at any point in the window. The honest reading of that, rather than the flattering one, is that Saturn and Jupiter do not both reach this chart's house of work at any point between September 2026 and September 2028. Which is the ordinary state, because the two slowest planets line up on one house for a stretch every few years rather than continuously, and the progress this chart makes therefore rests on its period ladder and on ordinary effort instead.

What this chart should do: treat September 2026 to April 2027 as preparation rather than as the push, because the periods are short and the mahadasha is closing. Have applications out and your references warm before 26 November 2027. The 61 days after that date, and the 71 days from 7 May 2028, are the two stretches worth spending real energy on.

Chart two: 2 September 2002, 16:13, Bhubaneswar

Capricorn rising, Moon in Gemini in the 6th house, in the nakshatra Ardra. The 10th lord is Venus, and Venus sits in Libra in the 10th house itself, which is as direct a placement as a 10th lord can have. Venus is also the yogakaraka for this rising sign, ruling the 5th and the 10th. Saturn, which rules the 1st and the 2nd here and is functionally benefic, sits in Gemini in the 6th house alongside the Moon.

The transit layer for a Capricorn rising is almost silent on the work house.

Neither slow planet ever sits in the 10th. Saturn does reach it by aspect from Aries in the two Aries spans, because Libra is the seventh sign counting on from Aries and every planet aspects its seventh, and that reads as weight and scrutiny on work already held rather than as an opening. Jupiter never reaches the 10th at all. The double transit produces no window either: Venus, the 10th lord, sits in the 10th, so there is only one target sign to satisfy and neither planet gets there.

For this chart the entire dated answer therefore lives in the period ladder.

The answer for this chart is close to the opposite of the first one. Its best-supported work window is already open on 1 September 2026 and runs to 12 January 2027: a 133-day Venus sub-period, Venus being both the 10th lord and the yogakaraka and sitting in the 10th house. Nothing in the transit layer announces it, which is exactly why a transit-only reading would miss it and tell this person to wait.

The second date that matters is 29 June 2027, when the nineteen-year Saturn mahadasha opens. Saturn rules the 1st and the 2nd here and is functionally benefic, and its own first sub-period runs to 20 December 2027. Then from 20 December 2027 to 24 May 2028 the Mercury sub-period runs. Mercury is the 6th lord of competitive work, benefic here because it also rules the 9th, and it sits in Virgo in the 9th house. That 156-day stretch is the longest single work window in the 24 months, and it coincides with Saturn transiting the 4th and aspecting the 10th, so it reads as a demanding role rather than a comfortable one.

Two people, the same two years, one told to prepare and one told to move immediately. Neither instruction can be derived from a rising sign alone, or from the calendar, or from anything an answer written for everybody could contain.

What a wrong birth time does to every date above

The transit tables on this page are facts about the sky. They do not care who is reading them and they are correct to the day. The period ladder is different, because it counts from your Moon's exact longitude, and the Moon moves about 13.2 degrees a day.

The consequence is arithmetic rather than opinion. The ladder translates rigidly: change the birth time and every date in it, for the rest of your life, slides by the same amount. Measured across 3,653 birth dates from 1996 to 2005, cast for New Delhi, with the cases where the birth nakshatra itself changed excluded and counted separately:

Say plainly what that means for the promise in this page's title. A month-by-month table is accurate to the month only if your birth time is right to within about five minutes. At ten minutes of uncertainty the whole table slides by more than a month, so the sequence of your windows stays correct and their calendar dates do not. At an hour of uncertainty the ladder moves most of a year, and the table is then telling you the order of your windows rather than their dates. Anyone quoting you a precise week off a birth time you rounded to the nearest hour is quoting a precision the method does not have.

The two other things birth time decides move differently and faster. The rising sign changes roughly every two hours, so of same-date pairs born two hours apart, 91.2% have a different lagna and 85.06% have a different 10th lord. It is not everyone, and it cannot be: signs do not rise at equal speed, so some pairs two hours apart still share a rising sign. And of pairs born at 00:00 and 23:59 on the same date, 77.03% are running a different mahadasha on 1 September 2027, 100% a different antardasha, and 99.43% end up with a different set of flagged months.

The instruction that follows is a practical one: find the birth certificate or the hospital record rather than working from family memory. If the only figure available is "around six in the evening", the honest reading is the sequence of your windows and their approximate season, and the correct next step is chart rectification, which is the process of narrowing a birth time by testing candidate times against events you can date in your own past.

If you do not know your birth time at all

Without a birth time there is no rising sign, and without a rising sign there is no 10th house. The standard fallback counts the houses from the Moon's sign instead, which is a different claim and should be labelled as one rather than printed under the first one's name.

How different is it? Your Moon sign and your rising sign coincide for only 8.72% of charts in the sample. Comparing the two frames across 2,924 charts, they agree exactly on how many days Jupiter spends in the 10th for 56.26% of charts and disagree for the rest, by 213 days at the 75th percentile and 386 days at the 90th. So for close to half of all readers the Moon-based answer and the birth-time answer are materially different documents.

The Moon frame is still worth having, and both grids above work for it. Read the Saturn and Jupiter tables against your Moon sign instead of your rising sign and the houses are correct for that frame. What you lose is the identification of the 10th and 6th lords, which is what turns the ladder into a job answer, because those lords are defined from the lagna and from nowhere else.

What to do inside a window, and what to do outside one

Timing and effort multiply each other rather than substitute for each other. That is the whole practical content of this method, and it cuts both ways.

Inside a window, the same applications convert at a better rate than they would three months earlier, so the correct behaviour is volume and follow-up. Have the resume already rewritten, the referrals already asked for and the notice period already understood before the window opens, because a 61-day window spent getting ready is a window spent. If your window overlaps the Sun crossing your 10th or 6th from the table above, those are the four weeks to be most visible.

Outside a window, the mistake is to read a slow period as a verdict and stop. The period is telling you which currency it pays in. A period ruled by a planet unconnected to your work houses usually rewards preparation, and the preparation worth doing is the one the next window will cash: the certification, the portfolio piece, the second language, the network you will need to activate in eight months. Saturn's own signature is that it pays late and pays for work already done, so a 6th-lord Saturn window landing on someone who spent the quiet months building tends to deliver more than the same window landing on someone who spent them waiting.

During Sade Sati, and in particular for the Aries and Pisces Moons who are in it for this whole window, the reading is to protect the base rather than to leap. A lateral move with a team you already know is a better bet than an unknown company in a new city. It is a season rather than a permanent condition, and the dates it runs are in the Saturn grid above.

Your own 24 months

Everything above is computed, and none of it is personal, because the layer that fixes the dates needs three numbers a public page does not have: your date of birth, your birth time and your birth place.
