The D3 Drekkana Chart: Siblings and Courage

The D3 drekkana chart zooms in on siblings, courage, and self-effort. Here is what it is, how it is built, and a calm way to read it.

What It Is

The D3 drekkana chart is the zoom for your siblings and your courage. If your main chart shows the broad terrain, the drekkana focuses in on one corner: the people born alongside you and the drive you carry inside.

It sits between the simpler charts and the finer ones. Each sign is cut into three equal parts.

The jargon layer: drekkana means a third. Each 30-degree sign splits into three parts of 10 degrees each. The first part stays in the sign itself, the second maps to the next sign of the same element, and the third maps to the one after that of the same element. So a planet's drekkana depends on which 10-degree third it occupies.

How It Is Calculated

Find the degree a planet sits at inside its sign. If it falls in the first 10 degrees, it stays in that sign. If it falls in the second 10 degrees, it moves to the next same-element sign. If it falls in the last 10 degrees, it moves to the one after that, again of the same element.

Because the parts are 10 degrees wide, the D3 is a little more forgiving of small birth-time gaps than the very fine charts, though accuracy still helps.

What It Shows

The drekkana speaks to siblings and co-borns, the brothers and sisters around you, and to courage, drive, and self-effort. It is the chart of how you push forward under your own steam, how you stand up for yourself, and the texture of your bond with those born close to you.

It is read alongside the third house of the main chart, which already covers these same themes of siblings, courage, and initiative.

How To Read It

Look at the third house of the drekkana and the planets that sit there or aspect it, along with where your courage-related planets land. This gives a feel for your drive and your sibling relationships in finer detail than the D1 alone.

Keep the order right. The drekkana refines what the main chart already shows through the third house and its lord. It does not override the D1. If your main chart shows warm sibling bonds, a busy-looking drekkana does not cancel that. It only adds shading. Read the D1 first, then open the drekkana for nuance.

A Calmer Way To Use It

Use the drekkana when you genuinely want insight into a sibling dynamic or into where your courage comes from. It is a focusing tool, not a fixed sentence. Difficult lines here are prompts to understand yourself better, not warnings to brace for.

Note that AstroMedha does not compute the D3 yet, so treat any reading here as a manual layer on top of your main chart. You can start by seeing your birth chart free in the free tools, which is the foundation every finer chart builds on.

Common questions

What does the D3 drekkana chart show?
It focuses on siblings and co-borns, along with courage, drive, and self-effort. It describes the texture of your bond with brothers and sisters and how you push forward under your own initiative.
How is the drekkana divided?
Each 30-degree sign is split into three parts of 10 degrees. The first part stays in the sign, the second maps to the next same-element sign, and the third maps to the one after that, also of the same element.
Does the D3 mean I am destined to have a hard time with my siblings?
No. The drekkana adds detail to what the third house of your main chart already shows. A busy or difficult-looking placement is one factor among many and is read in context. It is a prompt for understanding, not a fixed sentence.
Does AstroMedha compute the D3 chart?
Not at present. AstroMedha computes the D1, D2, D7, D9, and D10. For the drekkana you would layer it manually on top of your main chart, which you can generate free in the free tools.
Can the drekkana override my main birth chart on siblings?
No. Like every varga, the D3 refines what the D1 already promises through the third house and its lord. It can shade and detail the picture, but it cannot grant or deny what the main chart sets. Read the D1 first.
