Reading the Five Limbs

A Panchang answers a simple question: what kind of day is today? The tithi sets the lunar mood, the nakshatra names the star the Moon travels through, and the yoga and karana refine the texture. Read alongside sunrise and the Rahu Kaal window, they tell you when to act and when to wait. This is the same almanac temples and astrologers use to fix muhurats for weddings, housewarmings and new ventures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Panchang?

Panchang is the Hindu almanac. It records the five limbs of a day — tithi (lunar day), vara (weekday), nakshatra (lunar mansion), yoga and karana — along with sunrise, sunset and the inauspicious windows like Rahu Kaal. Together they tell you the quality of a given day for any activity.

What is Rahu Kaal and should I avoid it?

Rahu Kaal is a roughly 90-minute window each day considered inauspicious for starting important work. It shifts by weekday. Many people simply avoid launches, signings and travel departures during it, though ongoing work already in motion is unaffected.

Does Panchang change by city?

The tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are astronomical, so they are the same across India on a given day. What changes by city is sunrise, sunset and the daylight-based windows. Choose your city to get local sunrise and sunset.

How is today's Panchang different for me personally?

The Panchang here is universal — the same for everyone. Its real power comes when it is read against your own birth chart and dasha, because the same nakshatra can be excellent for one person and neutral for another. A personalised day reading maps the almanac onto your chart.
