Abhijit Muhurat is a short window around midday that tradition treats as auspicious for almost any work, even when the rest of the day''s panchang is mixed. Its name means victorious, and it is sometimes called the self-validating muhurat because it can stand on its own.

When Abhijit falls

Daylight is divided into fifteen equal parts called muhurtas, and Abhijit is the eighth, the one straddling local noon. It lasts roughly forty-eight minutes and, like everything timed from sunrise, it shifts with your city and the season rather than sitting at a fixed clock time.

When to use it, and the exceptions

Abhijit is a reliable fallback when you need to begin something on a day with no strong muhurat: a first lesson, signing a document, a small opening. Two cautions are traditional. Abhijit is avoided for travel toward the south, and on Wednesday some texts set it aside. It does not override the day''s Rahu Kaal, so check that the window is clear.
