What It Is

If your birth chart is the story of your whole life, the dasamsa is the chapter about your work in the world. It zooms in on your career, your profession, the kind of authority you carry, and how you are seen in public. Where the main chart hints at what you might do, the dasamsa shows how that plays out once you step into a role and people start to know you for it.

In classical terms the D10, or dasamsa, is a divisional chart (varga) focused on karma in society, meaning the work you do and the standing you earn through it.

How It Is Calculated

Each of the twelve signs is divided into ten equal parts. Thirty degrees split into ten gives parts of 3 degrees each. A planet falls into one of those ten parts based on its exact degree, and that part maps to a sign in the dasamsa chart. As with all fine divisions, an accurate birth time keeps the result trustworthy.

What It Shows

The dasamsa describes the shape of your professional life. It points to the fields where you tend to do well, the level of recognition and authority available to you, and how your reputation builds over a career rather than in a single moment. It also shows the texture of your public role, whether you lead, advise, build, serve, or create, and how steady that role tends to be.
